After playing rustic characters in his last TV outings, Dharam Veer, Balika Vadhu and Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo, Vikrant Massey felt it was time to move on to newer challenges.Vikrant will now be seen in a totally different avatar in his new TV show, The Serial.

As conversation veers to The Serial, Vikrant confesses that how it was "important" for him to "break the monotony of the kind of shows" he had been "doing till now. Audience need different kind of shows. I think I have done my share of the saas-bahu dramas. I don't want to boast about this show, but there is honesty in this show that's interesting. It has a big ensemble cast, comprising some of the best faces of TV. Also, I have not been doing any show for 10 months after Baba Aiso... so I immediately jumped on board when I heard the storyline," Vikrant says, and adds, "I was honestly star-struck when I saw the cast of my show. I was nervous because playing yourself on screen is not easy. I think for any work you do, that nervous energy is required so that you pull up your socks and do your best. No person should become complacent by his/her work and think that he/she has done their best."

The actor will soon make his celluloid debut in Lootera. Excited about his silver screen project, Vikrant says, "Lootera just happened while I was doing Baba Aiso... and it has been a wonderful experience. While I was doing the film, people did think I won't take up TV shows, but it isn't true and I have proved that to everyone. Everything depends on what comes my way."

Speaking about his work on TV, Vikrant says that doing good work has always been his priority. He says, "Main kabhi bhi chahta nahi tha ki log mujhe mere good looks ki wajah se pehchaane kyunki ye jhooth hai. But people have been kind and have appreciated my work."

Ask him about the real Vikrant and he smiles and says, "I am a very private person. I am like any other normal 25-year old who has had his share of relationships. Lots of things keep happening and I have seen both the best and the worst."
