Mornings are the best time to live your life. Ask yourself: whose life are you living? Do you find yourself tip-toeing around other's feelings?

Take a few moments to frame your day. When I wake up, the first thing I do is take stock of my surroundings. Where am I? What am I doing today? This is not to cause stress, but to open up a space to express gratitude. I think about the to-do list once, as I know I will revisit it later in the day. When I open my eyes, I smile at my partner and say `good morning' and he does the same.

This builds a connection with others and starts the day with love and kindness. I don't really believe in giving things up for the sake of it, but I do believe that modifying some behaviours is a way to untangle unhealthy habits. It's unrealistic to think anyone is not going to get on their phones right away but you can modify how you engage.

Check your emails, flag the ones you need to deal with when the time is right. Delete the ones that are junk. Put a time limit on your social media interaction.
