Giving up smoking and losing weight – almost all of us must have made that promise to ourselves during the New Year, haven’t we? In this age of long working hours, poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles, paying attention to one’s health is of critical importance.

The top New Year Resolutions for 2015 on Twitter are: Work out; be happy; lose weight and stop smoking. In the Shine. com survey on New Year resolutions, a majority 54% of those who planned to include some form of sport into their routines said they wanted to learn swimming.

Tennis came second for 33.33% respondents and 15% said they would opt for golf. Squash had just 5.67% takers. For those who made fitness their priority, 55.67% said they planned to exercise more; 30% said they would opt for simple dietary restrictions.

Reducing fats in dieting plans was in the agenda of 28% respondents; while 11.33% said they would go easy on the sugars and other carbohydrates.
